MINUTES WMRC General Meeting July 8, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. Ricky’s Restaurant, Langley, BC IN ATTENDANCE: Scott Borthwick, President Ken Lalonde, Vice President Jayson Lynch, Treasurer Bez Cajee, Promotions 5 members 1. CALL TO ORDER President Scott Borthwick called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. 2. MINUTES The Minutes of June 8, 2013 were read at the meeting. 3. FINANCIAL REPORT – Jayson Lynch The WMRC currently has $38,000 (net) in its bank account with outstanding bills for security and ambulance (about $5000). The Club earned about $3500 in revenue on the race weekend. 4. PROMOTIONS REPORT – Bez Cajee The weekend went well with 200 programs handed out by about 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The gate receipts totaled around $3000. An AMB system fundraiser is currently being planned and all details will be announced soon. Spero Benias and Bez Cajee are organizing a suspension clinic to be held on a track day. A ‘novice’ information package will be developed that would include a WMRC rule book, novice information, shops that support local racing, etc. that will be distributed to new racers taking the West Coast Superbike School. Bez Cajee will contact TELUS to see if they could sponsor the brochures with memory sticks to hand out along with the printed material. Honda Canada has a program where they give $100 to be used towards a race school (Inside Racing School or West Coast Superbike School) if they purchase a new Honda 250. 5. OLD BUSINESS a. PRE-GRID – the ‘lap’ board was well received by the racers. The timing for third and final call also works well for racers. 6. NEW BUSINESS BOOKLET for corner marshalls – covering the flags, rules, etc. will be handed out at the next race weekend. TRACK TEAR-DOWN – very few racers stayed to help with track tear-down. Duncan Fraser of Honda Canada advised that they would like more participation from the racers at set-up and tear-down. BERNIE’S TRACK WALK – any parent with a child in BC Childrens Hospital has free admission to all race days. PAM BLACK – consideration will be given to getting Pam Black an AM radio with ear bud so she can hear third call. CRASH TRUCK – Bez Cajee will remove the truck from the track. BANQUET– November 9, 2013. Banquet tickets will be printed before the September race weekend. 7. NEXT MEETING September 9, 2013 8. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 8:01 p.m.
