IIRC, the way the shift knuckle sits on the SV650 (first gen) running GP shift leaves the knuckle and as a result, shift selector shaft more...

I think he'll do much better on the 1000 than on the 600. He's at a disadvantage having ridden Pirelli for the last 4 years and never on Dunlop AFAIK
