Maybe it's wonky as a result of co-starring in the Family Affair video? I wish I had known you were having issues; it could have gone down to dBcom with all the rentals for service. With any luck you won't have any more issues with it after this year.
Yeah, but you have to put a resistor in line to drop the 12 volts down to 9 or 10 volts, otherwise you end up cooking the electronics.
A lot of people have that very same issue. Maybe it's in the decoder. Hopefully it will be a thing of the past next year if we get AMB up and running.
hmm.. Could be. ya, that's too bad. oh well, i'm lucky i've got another one to borrow. Dean, you could be onto something.
Not according to dbcom themselves. They say their units run from 9v to 12v. Even their hardwire harness doesn't have a resistor in it. I'd run it with an inline fuse to make sure no more than 1amp goes through, but no resistor needed.
OK, that's new for me. My bad. I stand (or sit) corrected. I was told there was a resistor in the harness, so I guess I was fibbed to. So a few years back when someone was running a hardwired transmitter and it was giving me all sorts of weird values, it wasn't over voltage. Let's just agree it was dropped on it's head.
I set mine up so I can switch back to a 9V if needed. I just used quick disconnect connectors for it.
