Transponders

Discussion in 'Racing at Mission' started by seandcontracting, Mar 8, 2015.

  1. Will there be any chance to rent a transponder via WMRC or SCCBC for the May races? Or should I buck up for the 500$ AMB? Thanks in advance.

Transponders are rented by our vendors. If you wish to reserve a transponder rental, please contact Marbod Kern at MSpeed Performance. http://www.mspeedperformance.com/

Does anyone know if a "Mylap" transponder will do the trick or will I have to rent one?

A TranX260 is the model needed. Branding; whether AMB-IT or MyLaps isn't really relevant. It's the same brand.

The official line is go kart or mx won't work. TranX260 is the only model we will accept. Anything else is asking for trouble.

That said .... they might work. But don't expect any sympathy if they don't.

Just stick with the 260 and be done with it.

Hope to see you next weekend Lu.

The main problem with gokart or MX transponders is that they cannot handle the speed with which we cross the line on the straight. They are good for up to 160 km/h. The TX260 (MyLaps motorbike, mylaps car) are good for up to 350 km/h. If you are not going to go above 160 km/h, you'll likely be okay. Until the guy behind plows into you for being so slow ;)
