hey, I heard that the rules for the 250 production class are changing. does anyone have more info on that?
What was discussed at the rulebook meeting was making the rules similar to supersport to allow for a bit more modification so that the Seattle racers would be allowed to run with fewer changes to their bikes but until the rules for 2012 come out we won't know for sure. I think supersport will allow for a few more changes like the rear shock and such but it's not going to allow for too much more than you can do under the production rules.
Still need to run a stock muffler on the 250 Dave. Only 750 and above can use aftermarket exhaust. Motards were allowed non-stock exhaust since the FMF Q4 was quieter than the stock dirt bike exhaust.
fmf q4 didn't pass sound for me on the 450. we are use seattle rules for the 250 and they allow the honda race kit, which in include a slip on exhaust.
No aftermarket exhausts. Here is the excerpt from the new rulebook: 7.3 250 to mirror Seattle's rules except stock unmolested mechanically baffled muffler is required.
I believe that should read, any unmolested oem ,stock mechanically baffled street approved muffler.Don't believe (our rulebook group) meant stock as delivered. example, all the Middleweight F2's ran race headers with used cheap stock cans from whatever they could source.example ,I run a hindle header with a ZX10 muffler on my Suzuki .
Just to clarify Dr Vu I said that the club was considering making the 250 rules similar to the WMRC Supersport rules. This would make it easier for Seattle racers to come up and race as they wouldn't have to turn their bikes back to stock. I never said that you could run a Seattle legal bike at Mission without making changes. KBell has the quote right I believe, a stock muffler but it doesn't have to be stock to your bike.
here's what comes with the honda 250 kit http://cmgonline.com/news/2011/09/30/honda-to-run-cbr250r-race-series-in-canada/ i'm keeping my bike stock, i'm always under powered with the supermoto so i don't really care. i just wanted to know what kind of cheats people where doing with their bikes
I'm guessing ZZR250's are still fine, they are a Canadian import (non-US model) so the WMRRA doesn't really recognize them.
Dean I think the "mirror Seattle rules" was meant to be in regards to modifications not bike eligibility. I am pretty sure it states in the WMRC rules somewhere that the bike should be one that was sold in Canada as street legal so you should be fine.
Yeah, I love pulling wheelies on my EX250H sport touring bike when I pass the Ninja 250R's . I actually have a EX250F engine in mine since the H model engine blew up at the first round. The ZZR is 20 pounds heavier too, so think of a better excuse .
just bring your zzr dean, i guess we all have to learn to be faster to keep up with that bike. i have this feeling people are going to mod their engine anyways and without a dino we will never know.
Dean was just the only seasoned racer out in 250 last year. The rest of us were novices on the track so it just looked like he had a turbo in his bike when you compared lap times.
I was being sarcastic. My bike has the same gutless 27 horespower engine as the other 250's plus it has to pull my fat ass around the entire time. Poor little thing.
