I think there is a lot to be said by a lot of people about how this year look. I will certainly be there on wednesday. But i think it's most important to keep the future of the club in mind when figuring things out for this season.

Club points you'll get down there unless you're running a model that isn't sold down there and won't qualify as supersport homologated. In the case of manufacturer contingency you might be out of luck but club points you'll get.

I just moved to Princeton this year and I was really hoping to finally make it back for a few weekend dates. I won't be able to make a middle of the week meeting but I'll be watching what's happening on this.

It is time to make a list of places we've ever turned a lap on a bike BESIDES Mission, and start talking to people/owners of those places. ASAP. Heal the wounds, bridge the gaps, and let's find some ALTERNATIVE places to race. While they might be shorter, tighter, crappier than Mission, anything is better than this BS.

With the way things are at the moment, I am looking at a 2 race + 1 practice season. While I always try to attend Mon-Fri (on work days) events, in the past I've been less than successful due to the nature of my work/boss. Needless to say, the Mini Bike Racing Club is looking really good right now. So is WMRRA.

As an aside, while racers always bounce back and find something to do to salvage a crappy season, what about all the PR we've done with the public? Flyers with schedules, gate passes? How is this going to affect sponsors? How successful are we with TOR, spectators, Mon-Fri?

We have to put ourselves, as racers, aside and think of what is best for the club right now. A couple of bad race days due to poor turnout or rain and it could be disastrous.

Something to think about for Wed. We'll see you there.

STOP! While you have some very valid points, members contacting places on the club's behalf isn't a good idea. I would strongly suggest (except for Ted's unique situation and contact) that you wait until Wed., forward you ideas to the exec., and let them pull the trigger on the ideas voted upon.

Things just got tough for me. Traveling for 1 race day from Kelowna during a weekday not gonna happen. I guess after wednesday, revaluate the situation and go from there. I hope the executives are ready for this cause its gonna be a shit show.

    Hopefully it won't be a S__T show.
The car guys screwed up and gave us dates before confirming where all the organizations that are above us in the pecking order would be. Their mistake, unless we signed a contract for those dates and there is some legal road we can go down to get compensation for lost revenue then we have to deal with what we have. Getting money from the car club to replace lost revenue still doesn't get us better race dates.
Nothing that the executive could have done about that, all we can do now is explore the options left to us.
We should be discussing what to do moving forward at the meeting, not getting worked up over things we can't control.
    We can:
Get enough committed racers that will show up on whatever dates we can agree on to have a season. Or, cancel the season and let the racers go where they can to get in a racing season.
Keep the club going on a social and support basis while exploring better relationships with the car club and other race track operators to have a much better 2013. I like the idea of reaching out to all the racetracks we know of but I do agree that we give the executive the list and let them make the contacts offically representing the club.
If the WMRC decides not to go ahead with a season but the WCSS gets dates that work for them support the WCSS to the hilt and encourage everyone you know with a bike to come out. If we have proof of good support for motorcyle racing it helps us gain credibility no matter who we are talking too.
"We had 250 motorcycle racers out to an event" is a great opening line with sponsors, track operators, government etc.

    Thanks for the offer,

Good plan, you are a little hot headed, just a little, :p

    Princeton, WTF? :D

Agreed, DO NOT email or write the car club or anyone else, that will only make things worse for the future, believe it or not.

I think they already know, its not their fault, and we as a club, have to figure out what we can do about it.

Agreed, I have to take time off work but I'll do it if it means the club will survive another year.

    WOW!!!!Shot to the heart!

Doesn't the car club rely on money from the WMRC to offset some of their costs? Was their a "contract" involved?

I did mean to say the executive should be doing this, and not individual members... Blame it on all on the upset factor.

Reminds of a chat I had with a senior SCCBC guy at the vintage 'Historic Races' at Mission in June last year. He gave me crap for not taking my Triumph TR6 to the Van Dusen Car Show last year, where TR6 was the featured marque. I told him I spent the May long weekend at the WMRC races instead. With a wink, he said you may not have that calendar conflict for too much longer...

Sadly, the car clubs and organizers look at the motorcycle crowd as second class citizens and an afterthought... I hope this is not the start of a slow move to squeeze the WMRC out of Mission?

I will be there to cornerwork & volunteer at whatever dates the WMRC ends up with for 2012 and beyond... good luck to the executive and everyone involved!

This is a very difficult development. I have read every post and I agree with the schedule that Spero put forward. I realizwe that many people cannot do mondays, but his schedule takes advantage of the summer months and the weather factor. Guys...you know how shit can change over time and what looks impossible now (people getting the days off) might actually turn out not so bad when the dates roll around. We might not all be able to hit all the races, but if enough folks make some sacrifices with there work schedules (using holidays, sick days and such), maybe we can scrape a break even season and still run a championship. Dad and I will be loyal to the WMRC first and then, if necessary, look to Washington and or Oregon to fill up our season. Please, as a group, let's seriously consider the schedule that Spero propsosed and do whatever we can to make as many of those dates as possible. I will make every one. I am pretty sure dad will too. I cannot make the meeting on Wed as I will be working, but count me in for any days that are agreed to. I have a flexible schedule if I have some advanced notice. Cheers,

    To reiterate:

If we can go with Spero's proposal and everyone ask their bosses ASAP for the 5 weekdays off as part of their 2012 vacation allotment, then how many riders would we have for each race? Can we all fight to have these days off? Think of the wonderful opportunity to have so many great days in the June-August time period! And what character would we show to the haters??? Let's all pull together and fight for this club!

    Cheers

What horse shit, and thanks Tony,

Very well said but maybe this is all in vain and in 2013+, we won't be given anymore weekend dates or anymore dates period! :(

Custom Car Club certainly does. The last couple years, the rental income paid their property taxes for them. The last couple years they've had so many rain-outs the rental income likely saved their bacon.

Well I think we should try Spero's schedule and all fight for the days off any way possible. We can cross 2013 next winter...Let make something happen and keep motorcycle racing in the Lower Mainland

    Cheers

    Wow, what a surprise.
With enough notice I should be able to be at Pregrid for whatever dates you choose. Peter and I will likely not be at Wednesday's meeting, however I will check the forum more frequently to keep up to date.

Sorry WCSS but I agree with trying to secure a handful of mondays as race dates. I believe with enough notice most people , if they love racing , could free up mondays. And I agree that if we want to stay racing at mission, we WILL be a weekday racing club. Or at least we'll have this year to find out if we can make a go of it. RANDY
