Ok so i'm 99% sure Im going to head to Edmonton for the wcc round and i just wanted to see if anyone has experience driving both routes up there. I took Hwy 5 through jasper last year and it sucked so I was hoping the drive through Calgary was better. Any suggestions?
The southern route is getting quicker with the new highway east of Golden, but it's still a lot longer than going through Jasper.
Even with the new part east of Golden.....the highway 5 and 16 are faster to travel on while there are more places to go around "tourists" with big and slow moving RV's. And if you're towing a trailer there is a lot less pulls on the northern route.
if it's the lengthy drive....?there are lots of options.i was thinking of going...but getting married that weekend.you will love that track.
Guess hwy 5 it is then. If anybody hasn't been to stratotech before, its an awsome track. I went last year and loved it. Definitely worth the drive.
Just a friendly reminder that I live in Clearwater on Highway 5 (well close to) and if any of you should need help or assistance of any kind......consider me as a possible "pit stop"......if any of you are traveling with trailers/rv's/toy haulers.....I have 2 hook ups in my backyard for electricity and water........
Hey Kyle. I look forward to seeing you here. Trust me, highway 5 upto 16 thropugh jasper is the way to go. Ive gone back and forth three time this year. The highway 5 climb is quite steep. Make sure your vehicle is in good shape before you attempt it. Are you towing a trailer? Usually take me about 12 to 13 hours to do the drive. I dont normally speed much since the price of gas is crazy, though it is 109.9 here right now
Wow, you've gone and brought that up! LOL! Hey Bez, you coming out again? In your brothers truck? Hehehe!
Ill be bringing my trailer this time. I'm just gonna take it easy and I'll try not to torch my tranny. It made it last year so hopefully I can repeat my success. Are you gonna have the kawi running?
Well....thank you "Jacqueline"........I was wondering if someone was kind enough to give me the answer..........
Hi, I have been way too many times to mention and have already done both the southern route, via Saskatchewan crossing and Sylvan Lake as well as northern route this year, Go the northern route, See you at the WCC rounds, Enjoy the ride, and best regards, Blair
Thanks for all the dates but since I've decided to go down to GP this year....I'll pass on the trip to Edmonton......
